Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any requirements to qualify to be a tutor?

There are no requirements or prerequisites for a student to apply to be a tutor! Anyone that feels confident in one or more subjects can apply. While many of our tutors are generally upperclassmen with a few years of high school experience, we also have students as young as freshmen who excel at certain subjects and would like to be tutors!

How will tutoring sessions be conducted?

When a tutor and student is matched, the details of your tutoring sessions are entirely up to you guys. Each of you will receive the other's contact information, and it is up to the TUTOR to reach out to your student to plan the sessions. Some common ways of conducting tutoring sessions include using ZOOMs or meeting up in-person (at lunch during library, afterschool, etc.)

How will I be notified when I am matched with a tutor/student?

When you have been matched, you will receive an email from the PTC board with the other person's contact information.

Can I receive community service hours for tutoring?

Yes! You can ask Mrs. Hufferd to sign off any hours that you have.

Can I sign up for help or to become a tutor any time?

Yes, you can sign up to become a tutor or to request for a tutor any time except the summer.

I signed up to become a tutor/student a while ago. How long will it take to match me?

Unfortunately, there is always going to be an imbalance of tutors/students and the subjects. Thus, we don't have an exact time limit for you to be matched. For the best chance of being qickly matched with a student, we are always in need of science, math, and language tutors.
